silence [Apr. 25th, 2008|01:42 am]
I just wanted to let you all know that I have been tied up with RL stuff, I had surgery, ect. That's why I have not been commenting on all your stories the way I used to do.

Please do not take my silence on LJ lately as a sign that I am not reading or enjoying your BBM writings. I have read them when I could and I still love you all and the boys, AU or canon.

I should be feeling better soon and I will be back to read and maybe even try to write some more.

Cathy

PS: I just watched all six seasons of HBO's OZ for the first time while I was laid up. It was amazing! Damn, I gotta get cable someday, not that DVD's aren't a great thing, too. Any other OZ fans out here?

Poem for Heath [Feb. 21st, 2008|07:08 pm]
private man, public life

glowing brightly on the silver screen
a brief flash of brilliance
a perfect note in a world of artifice
hounded by the vultures of celebrity

loved by many, known by few

torment and joy hand in hand with art
memories trapped forever on screen
light is pure energy changing form
gone but never forgotten

loved by few, unknown to many

I am so not a writer but this came to me the other day as I attempted to write something for the BBM Love Fest.

I am just putting this poem on my journal and if I complete an attempt at a story I really wouldn't know how to do anything but post it here, too. I wouldn't know how to link a story anywhere so someone needs to let me know how. Help me please. Cathy

Let's plan to do something worthwhile during the Oscars... [Feb. 17th, 2008|09:29 pm]
The academy is dead to me..... Too many old people voting for or against movies they refuse to see.

Oscar is just a cheaply gilded phallic symbol anymore.

Did you see the comment in one article after Heath Ledger's death that Jack Nickolson "never saw Brokeback Mountain." I bet he voted that year even though he never saw the movie or the best performance of the year.

Q: How did BBM not get named best picture instead of that other crap 'Lifetime-type' movie?
Q: Why didn't Heath Ledger win for best actor with the greatest performance of the decade in BBM?

A: BECAUSE so many academy voters (old men) refused to even watch BBM. Remember Tony Curtis and other older Hollywood men being quoted as saying that they would NEVER watch BBM. I bet they voted anyway.

Q: How can you vote fairly if you refuse to see all the movies or actors?

A: You can't vote fairly if you never see all the movies or performances. So screw the Academy and their aged homophobic membership.

I will never watch the Oscars again. I do have to say that Jack Nicholson is a great disappointment to me, I used to respect him.

REPEAT: Screw the Academy and their aged and homophobic membership!!!! They lost all credibility as far as I am concerned.

Maybe I will rent some great classic movies and watch them that night with my kids. I sure won't be watching any of that crap on TV, I guarantee it.

My 2 cents......

Still in shock. [Jan. 23rd, 2008|11:24 am]
So young, what a loss to us all. I had so looked forward to seeing how many more unforgettable roles he would play with that blazing talent as he matured and grew older. Heath Ledger was one of the greatest actors of his generation. He deserved that Academy Award, too bad they dissed him and BBM.

Ennis del Mar will live on forever, along with all the other characters Heath helped create so beautifully. We can all be assured that Heath will always be there for us the fans to enjoy, immortalized forever, beautiful and young on the screen. Those characters are a gift from him and his legacy to the world.

This is a good time to think about how fragile we humans actually are and how even a small mistake can have awful consequences. Life is so precious.

About all I can think of right now is his poor baby girl, who will grow up without knowing her Daddy. My heart goes out to his family, OMG, I got a kid just a few years younger than him and can't imagine losing her so young.

Rest in peace, new Angel Heathcliff.

BTW, To those of you who are continuing to write BBM fics, THANK YOU! I need that more than ever right now. Jack and Ennis are a permanent part of my life and I need some good AU stuff right now to cheer me up.

To those of you who can't write now, I thank you for the joy you have given me over the past 2 years and will miss you sadly, but I understand.
